A Harvey & Company Ltd. has been in the Marine stevedoring business since 1865. In response to being awarded a long-term contract with Hibernia in 1995, A Harvey & Company Ltd. undertook a complete reconstruction of its property St. John’s Harbour, making it the most modern facility of its kind in Eastern Canada.
Since that time, the A. Harvey Marine Base has serviced offshore drilling activity for Hibernia, Hebron, Equinor, Terra Nova, Chevron, and Husky Energy.
The Marine Base facility provides logistics services combining Purchasing, Contracts, Warehousing, Offshore/Marine/Onshore Transportation, Facilities Management, and Administration Services necessary to support offshore operations.
It is a company requirement that all logistical operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively in compliance with company and best industry standards.
A Harvey & Company Ltd. Marine Base maintains a documented quality system as a means of ensuring that products and services conform to specified contract and quality requirements. Michael Smart

Michael is a graduate of Memorial University with a Bachelor of Arts. He came to work for A. Harvey in 2005 as Supervisor, advanced to the position of Base Manager in 2009 and then to Director in 2017. In this role, he strives to ensure the safest and most productive operations at the offshore Marine Base. He is committed to the satisfaction of both A. Harvey & Company Ltd.’s clients and employees.
Cathy Bruff

Cathy Bruff was born in St. John’s and currently resides in Mount Pearl. Cathy graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1994 with a Bachelor of Commerce. She has completed the Occupational Health & Safety Certificate Program at the College of the North Atlantic and training in the implementation, management, and auditing of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001). Cathy is an active member of the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE) and has been with A Harvey & Company Ltd. since 1998.
